Marvellous Me

Our topic this half term is 'Marvellous Me'. We spend this time getting to know our new children and families and welcoming back our returning children. The children will learn lots about themselves, their families and each other. Please keep checking this page for updates on what we have been doing so far.

Home Visits

We have had a fantastic time visiting all of our new boys and girls at their houses. It has been great to learn about their interests at home, who lives in their house and also meet some of their family and pets.

Thank you for welcoming us into your homes.

Week One - Welcome to Nursery

We are amazed at how great the children have settled in. We have had a few tears but these did not last long. It was lovely to see our older children and welcome them back. They have grown so much over the summer!

Our children have enjoyed having their snack together and getting to know each other.

We have been painting and drawing ourselves this week. The children have also enjoyed learning outdoors too. Our story this week have been 'Owl Babies'.

Week Two - All About Us

The children throughly enjoyed learning outdoors this week. They have enjoyed taking turns and sharing the bikes and also the water outdoors. The children have also enjoyed continuing to draw themselves.

Week Three - We're Going on a Bear Hunt

We have enjoyed our story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and we created some bear pictures and a bear cave. We created a fabulous bear hunt tray where the children could retell the story and the children enjoyed following (and using) lots of positional language.

Week Four - 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'

This week we started learning the story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. The children made story maps, wanted posters to find Goldilocks, bear masks and did lots of porridge tasting!

Week Six - The Little Red Hen

This week the children have enjoyed the story 'The Little Red Hen. They have enjoyed role playing in the 'hen's house' and also creating their own hen masks and hats.

The children have also enjoyed beginning to learn about harvest. This prompted and interest in farms and our farm small world is now out for the children to build upon.

Week Five - Goldilocks and the Three Bears

This week the children have continued their learning about 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. They have sequenced the story, made the bears cottage and enjoyed lots of messy learning by adding water to porridge oats to see what happens!

Week Seven - Harvest and Diwali

This week we have continued our learning about harvest. The children have also learnt about the Hindu festival Diwali. We have made some amazing diva lamps and rangoli patterns.
