Our Partnership with Parents

At Batley Parish J I N C of E School we believe strongly in developing effective relationships with parents as partners in order to enhance a child's learning and development. We take time to get to know you and your child so that we can work together to achieve the best outcomes for each child. We run weekly 'learning together' sessions where you can come and spend time learning with your child. These sessions allow you to find out how your child is learning at school and how you can extend this at home. These sessions also enable you to discuss your child's progress with a member of staff.

Please feel free to contact Miss Adams (rebecca.adams@kirkleeseducation.uk) or Miss Chothia (naadhirah.chothia@kirkleeseducation.uk ) via email or send anything across you may like to share about your child or would like your child to share with the class!

Learning Together Sessions

Every Wednesday we invite parents are carers to our 'Library and Learning Together' sessions. The sessions are 9:00-9:30am or 1:00-1:30pm. You are invited to choose a library book to take home for the week and then engage in activities within the provision for half an hour. Some weeks there may be a focus within the learning together. If there is anything you would like to see, for example how to help your child in mark making, or number activities please feel free to let a member of staff know!

We actively encourage parents' to feedback on these sessions by writing in our 'comments book' We love to hear what you have enjoyed but also value areas or suggestions that we could improve on.

Stay and Play Dates

Each term we try to offer a ‘Stay and Play’ session. We invite you to join your child in nursery for an hour and see how they learn.

Please check our weekly newsletter for our stay and play dates.

Early Essence

We track the children's learning and development using Early Essence. We add photos, observation and things that your child has done at Nursery. You will be given a parent/carer log in for Essence too. You will be able to add to your children's learning journey, send in things your child has done at home and also track their learning too!

30 Hours Education

Please read below the information that is given by the Government regarding the 30 hours childcare.

"You may be able to get up to 30 hours free childcare (1,140 hours per year, which you can choose how you take).

If you’re eligible for the extra hours, you sign up online to get a code to give to your childcare provider to reserve your place. You’ll get the extra hours once the next term starts.

Apply by 31 December to get a code to use for the term starting in January.

You can usually get 30 hours free childcare if you (and your partner, if you have one) are:

  • in work - or getting parental leave, sick leave or annual leave
  • each earning at least the National Minimum Wage or Living Wage for 16 hours a week - this is £120 if you’re over 25

This earnings limit doesn’t apply if you’re self-employed and started your business less than 12 months ago.

You’re not eligible if:

  • your child doesn’t usually live with you
  • the child is your foster child
  • either you or your partner has a taxable income over £100,000

You can get 30 hours free childcare at the same time as claiming Universal Credit, tax credits or childcare vouchers."

If you can’t work

You may still be eligible if your partner is working, and you get Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disablement Allowance, Carer’s Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance.

Apply for 30 hours free childcare

You’ll need your details (and your partner’s, if you have one), including your:

  • National Insurance number
  • Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR), if you’re self-employed

It takes 20 minutes to apply. You may find out if you’re eligible straight away, but it can take up to 7 days." (www.gov.uk, 2017)
